I have a wide selection of hobbies & interests, as listed below.

They are in no particular order.

  • Church;    Since becoming a Christian in 1988, I have become a very active member of Oadby Baptist Church  I currently head-up the premises team at the church.  I am also involved with the church's performing arts ministry, (see below), and run the church's technical team.

  • Sound & Light; Sound Mixer Animation   Within our church we have a very talented performing arts group, and I am involved with all technical aspects of the productions and tours that they do.  Being equally at home with both basic sound & lighting rigs, I can often be found planning, building or operating either, sometimes both at once!   I have assisted several churches in the planning, purchase and installation of sound systems.  Working with others, I have also been involved in a number of bigger, outdoor events, as well as youth events in various venues around Leicester.  In July 2005, I rigged and operated sound & lighting for Scripture Union at the Baptist World Congress at the NIA, Birmingham.  An amazing experience with 13,000 people there. (Not all with us though!).   I head up our church's technical team and am involved in training others as well as operating AV kit myself.  I acted as projectionist and technician for the National Audio-Visual Championships for several years.

  • Photography;        For many years now I have been a keen photographer.  I joined Leicester Forest photographic society originally, but left there to join my local society, Oadby Camera Club (3 years as Chairman). This club folded in 2003 due to lack of members.  I am now a member of Leicester & Leicestershire Photographic Society, one of the oldest groups in the country.  I am a Past President and former Competition Secretary of the society.   Being interested in Audio-visual photography, I am also a member of the East Midlands Audio-Visual Group, currently acting as their treasurer.  Wanting to embrace the latest developments, I was one of the founding members of Braunstone Digital Group when it started in 1998.  I gained a Credit of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, (CPAGB) for my Audio-visual photography in 1999.  To see some of my pictures and find out more about my Audio-Visuals, see the 'photos' page.

  • Camping;        Ever since I was taken camping by my parents, I have been keen on camping, and this forms the basis for the majority of my holidays.  I regularly camp with the Baptist Campers, enjoying the fun & fellowship of holidaying with a big group of friends.

  • Walking;        When I get the time, which usually means when on holiday, I enjoy walking. I regularly combine this with photography, using the walking to reach better vantage points.
